This series of books is about Arlo who is a worker Ant.

Book One
'Arlo the Ant and his Very Big Red Pants', is all about how Arlo finds out how much work it is to collect food when he goes out for the first time with his friends. Being very creative Arlo thinks of an alternative to collect food which makes it easier and therefore changes the way he and his friends work.

These colourful picture books are fun and educational for young children, teaching them about how to work together, being kind to those who are in need of more help, and understanding the differences between our rich and diverse cultures in the world we live.

Told through the antics of Arlo the Ant and all the wonderful characters that will come to life in the series, topics will range from bullying, race, social awareness and disabilities. Having worked with young children for most of my career in both mainstream and the disability sector, my experiences are rich and varied, which in turn means that Arlo can relay these in his own fun way.

Inspired by children, written for children and read by children, Arlo will bring a variety of life skills to children at a very young age.

Knowledge and understanding of one another at a young age is key to building and developing happy and positive relationships long term.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Anita Sharma is a published poet, writer of the ‘Arlo the Ant’ children’s book series, and author of her debut fantasy fiction novel ‘The Twelve Keys’. This is the first book of the ‘Kingdom’ series based on the Chinese Zodiac (Shengxiao in Mandarin).

A broadcaster with the BBC for six years, Anita’s passion for the written word has finally been brought to life through this, her first novel.

The inspiration for the novel comes from spending over eight years living and working in China. Anita travelled to over thirteen different cities and was able to discover and experience the rich culture that China had to offer.

With two grown up daughters and two young grandsons, Anita finds time to fulfil her passion for writing in-between travelling for work and spending time with her family.

With one of her ‘bucket-list’ dreams realised with ‘The Twelve Keys’, the second book of the series is now in the process of being written, so watch this space.
